A hypsometric map uses heights of different land surfaces and contour lines to depict land configurations.  This map uses 3D configuration to display North American height compared to that of the standard sea level.  This map also uses color to display the different heights.  By using the differences in height elevation and contour lines this map can be considered a hypsometric map.
